Braxton DaSilva nets 2OT goal to return Sheyenne to state semifinals

FARGO — In the rain, West Fargo Sheyenne midfielder Braxton DaSilva delivered a rainbow of a goal. The junior buried the match-winning tally for the East Region No. 2 Mustangs in a 1-0 double-overtime victory over West Region No. 3 Bismarck in the North Dakota boys soccer state quarterfinals on Thursday at Fargo North High School. DaSilva s strike came from outside the goalkeeper s box in the 97th minute. He scored a similar goal against Fargo North earlier this season, which has reworked his shooting philosophy. Ever since I hit that, I ve been confident to shoot, DaSilva said. As soon as I saw that opening, I just ripped it and I knew it was going in. Bismarck goalkeeper Ean Marcus got a hand on the ball, but DaSilva s boot trickled in. We know he has a mid-range shot and he was going to get one of those, said Sheyenne head coach Jon Melendez, and today he went in. The Mustangs (12-3-2) advance to the tournament semifinals against West Region No.
